I am absolutely proud to be a part of this great school and honored to be a part of the families that make up Thornwilde!
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I lived most of my childhood in Roanoke, VA and Ashland, KY, but from the time I was 10 years old, I have lived in the Northern Kentucky area. I attended schools in Kenton County (White's Tower and Twenhofel) and Silver Grove before attending Northern Kentucky University from 1977 to 1982.
Upon graduating from NKU, I worked as a substitute teacher and in retail. I was first hired by Boone County Schools in 1986 as a long-term sub at Ockerman Elementary in Florence. For a few years, I was an itinerant teacher working at various schools in the county. In 1990, I became the full-time music teacher at Kelly Elementary. After 21 busy but enjoyable years there, I transferred to the newest school in the district, Thornwilde Elementary. I am currently in my 32nd year of teaching (2018-19).
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing/arranging music, practicing my guitar and keyboard skills, working on my house, and spending time with family and friends. I used to jog, but I am not a very faithful exerciser... I also used to rollerblade but it has been a while since I've done that. I still hope to get back on my rollerblades when I get a chance. And my bike, too. (Cars make it too easy to avoid riding a bike!) I also have two cats: a male named Sneakers and a female named Mitzi. I love my cats!
