COMMITMENT TO LISTEN, COMMUNICATE, UNDERSTAND logo

dr randy poeIn the past week, it seems our world has begun to fracture and come apart at the seams. Pain, fear and inequity have been laid bare in the face of violence, devastation and death. The Boone County School district is committed to acknowledging that we don't have all the answers to the world's injustices, but we can at least listen. We can be understanding.  We will do our part to be respectful, inclusive, empowering, and celebrate life no matter who you are, where you come from or what your life experiences have been.  We want to be your place of refuge.  A place you can come to and know that you matter, this is your home and we care about you as a member of this family.

What can you do to make a difference? Listen and then speak. Especially to people who may have a different life experience than you. At work and at home, ask your neighbor, friend and co-worker how they are doing. You might be the only one to do so and your listening ear can lift the feeling of isolation. Don't fear offending someone. Everyone wants to be heard and cared for. Communication is the most basic form of caring and kindness. If we talk to one another we can't help but come together and overcome the obstacles we face. You can be one person who starts the process today. Your simple question and genuine interest may be the relief someone you know needs right now.

Sincerely,

Randy J. Poe, Ed.D.

Superintendent

Matt Turner Named New Superintendent For Boone County Schools logo

Ryle High School Principal Matt Turner has been appointed to serve as the next Superintendent of the Boone County School District.

Mr. Turner has served in education for 29 years.  The last 14 as Principal at Ryle High, Northern Kentucky’s largest high school with a student population of 2000. Before that he served as Assistant Principal at Ryle, assistant principal at Lloyd Memorial High in Erlanger, KY, and assistant principal at Williamstown High School.  He has held multiple other positions in education throughout his career that include teaching and coaching.  “Matt is known as a gifted leader and administrator throughout Kentucky, says school board president Matt McIntire. We are excited to announce Mr. Turner as our next Superintendent of Boone County Schools and to partner with him on behalf of our students. Matt’s ability to lead teams centered on a shared vision will be vital as we build on the foundation of Achieving Excellence Together in our schools."

Mr. Turner’s background in education leadership includes Harvard’s Executive Leadership Program for Educators and the National Institute of School Leadership. Having worked in rural, urban and suburban settings to include small towns and larger metropolitan areas perfectly suits him to lead Kentucky’s third largest district of 21,000 students.

The search for a new Superintendent began 4 months ago with a Superintendent Search Screening Committee which included elected teachers, administrators and community members working alongside the Boone County School Board.
